About
With major issues such as rising population, predicted water and food shortage, international debt, an increase in natural disasters and the increasing need for aid; we are being pulled in every direction causing multiple catch 22 situations.
My goal is to use music and creativity as a vehicle to champion positive change. To push my boundaries and learning experience whilst combining an interest in the environment and sustainability. After many twists and turns this led to Mukuni Village in Zambia with Valerie Buchanan to look at projects run by The Butterfly Tree.
Whilst holding some music workshops in rural villages for children who lack even the essentials in life – food, water, health & education, we were humbled by the talent and enthusiasm of the children. After experiencing the response from the pupils, Valerie realised the need and reason why we were there: ‘To build a Music Centre for Mukuni.” Inspired to help more I donated my guitar to the school and started a small children’s music group and we vowed to return.
Due to the high poverty levels there is very little for these young people to do outside the classroom. Providing these facilities will give them an opportunity to develop music skills, which will enable them to perform concerts to increase awareness and raise funds for HIV and AIDS in Zambia. It is also a chance to become self-sustaining.
We all embody a natural creativity…..I believe the more we engage in this with others then the more chance we have of creating a sustainable and balanced world.
